A PINCH OF GREECE: FORTUNE ISLAND

A PINCH OF GREECE: FORTUNE ISLAND

NASUGBU BATANGAS

Who would have thought that two hours away from Manila you’ll get to experience this historical Greek inspired island. People get crazy over this place and you’ll never regret having an escapade in the island.  At first glance of the Greece Acropolis statue you will be surprised that you will find it in the Philippines and you will have that feeling that you’ve already been to Greece because of this Island. It was a resort before and the island is owned by the former governor Leviste and left it abandoned in time. While in the boat from the distance before arriving to the island you can already see the ruins of Grecian pillars and an endless horizon which I can’t help but to amazed with it.

The Fortune Island

How to get there is very simple whether it is public transportation or using a private car. All you have to do is ride a bus going to Nasugbu Batangas and just tell you will go to Fortune Island they drop you off to Jollibee in Barangay Wawa and then you can ride a tricycle there going to the coast where you will have a boat ride going to the island that will took you 45 minutes to 1 hour only depending on the waves. Its always better traveling on a big group so when you rent the boat you will pay a cheaper price. If you are having a day trip only the best time is that you will arrive in Nasugbu by 6:00 in the morning so you’ll get to the island around 7am.

Shells

There’s no electricity in the island, drinking water and completely no establishment or stores so its better to bring your own drinking water, food and tent. Take note that there are no toilets and please make sure that you have your own bin bags for your trash to make the island sustainable.

Summer

I’m so stoked with this island with its powdery white sand and crystal clear blue water. It will always be my favorite escape from my everyday life. If you want some new adventure it’s a perfect getaway. Those sound and the big waves are just perfect, take a dip in salt water and do some snorkeling. You can go trekking also to see the lighthouse and discover the shipwreck. There are so many things to do in this one island like if you are looking for some adrenaline rush and if you are tough enough go cliff jumping, it is a rocky cliff you just need to be careful going there. Fortune Island is a nice place for camping overnight, bonfires and star gazing. The picturesque sunset, natural beauty and the vast ocean.
