Philippine Travel Update: El Nido, Palawan Re-opens for Palawan-based Tourists!

Starting last September 30, 2020, El Nido Palawan has finally opened its doors for Palawan-based tourists, either local or foreign tourists as long as they originates from Palawan areas.

 


El Nido has only 2 Covid-19 cases as of September 22, 2020 and both patients has fully recovered. Good thing, there were no local transmission of the virus up until now. We can say that visiting El Nido now is safe but as tourists, it is also our responsibility to follow the health standards applied such as:


  • Mandatory wearing of face masks
  • Observance of Physical Distancing
  • Undergo Temperature checks in various establishments

We know you missed it, basking under the sun, laying down in pristine beaches, exploring hidden caves and shrines, and snorkeling under crystal clear waters. So, before finally booking that vacation of yours, make sure to check out the following requirements and reminders before arrival and during your stay in El Nido. WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS NEEDED WHEN VISITING EL NIDO?

 

  • Tourist health declaration from (HDF) acquired through the El Nido Tourism website: https://guest.elnidotourism.ph/
  • Reservation or booking in an accommodation establishment with Certificate of Authority to Operate (CAO) issued by the Department of Tourism (DOT).

 

GETTING THROUGH BORDER CONTROL

 

Upon arrival in El Nido, all guests must undergo to their border control follow below step-by-step guide of the procedure in getting through:

 

  • Presentation of ID stating address in Palawan
  • Presentation of electronic booking invoice in an accommodation with DOT’s Certificate of Authority to Operate
  • Short tourism briefing
  • Payment of eco-tourism development fee (ETDF)
  • Brief health check and interview

 


Once you’re in El Nido, expect that roaming around will be different than before. From the accommodation, various establishments around the town, during island activities, make sure to be guided of the following:

 

WHAT SHOULD I OBSERVE WHILE IN EL NIDO?


  • Always observe minimum health standards.
  • Book your island tours one day prior your activity. Know all dos and don’t’s
  • Bring a an electronic copy of your ID and HDF at all times
  • When feeling flu0like symptoms, quickly inform your hotel staff and isolate immediately in the hotel’s isolation room. Your hotel staff will contact medical personnel for your health assessment and help plan further actions.

 

WHAT SHOULD I OBSERVE DURING ISLAND ACTIVITIES


  • To lessen person-to-person contact during this period, tourists shall bring their own food and drinks. Do note that single-use plastics are not allowed.
  • The new island hopping tours are designed to help tourists maintain a 3-meter distance from one another off boat. Please do so.
  • For this period, tourists shall bring their own mask and snorkel and other similar gears. Rentals of such are temporarily banned.
  • Hold on to the life jacket given to you and do not share.
  • Observe minimum health standards always.
  • Bring your ETDF ticket and an electronic copy of your ID and HDF at all times.
